calvary church
muscatine, iowa

j+m civil design was selected to work with the leadership of the Church to come up with a plan that met the parking needs of the church, improved traffic flow and enhanced the outdoor aesthetics of the facility. j+m met with the Leadership Board over the course of several weeks to receive input, and provide them with several conceptual plans to consider. Once a final concept plan was chosen, j+m furnished the church with a color rendering to use as a display exhibit for the congregation.

j+m civil design also worked with the client to provide construction plans and specifications to replace the existing 930-space parking lot with the newly proposed 600-space lot with multiple drop-off lanes, sidewalks, colored concrete, landscape and greenspace areas, playgournd areas, storm sewer and subdrain improvements, and ADA and senior citizen accessibility improvements along the 860-ft building frontage. Traffic flow was also improved for peak traffic periods to help reduce backups on U.S. Highway 61 and coordination with the Iowa DOT was required for reconstruction and reconfiguration of the traffic signals at the entrance.

The new Davenport distribution center is a 4,000 SF building with 4-bay truck dock and office space.  The new site also provides parking for Loffredo’s local truck fleet, which includes box trucks, single and tandem axle semis and trailer storage.

j+m civil design developed construction plans and specifications for the new distribution and warehouse facility.  Improvements included layout and design of a two-section PCC parking lot for semi-truck maneuvering, parking and access to the proposed dock-high building.  An employee parking section with an adjoining large-block retaining wall was also included in the project.

The City of Davenport had recently passed a new Storm Water Ordinance and implemented a new Storm Water Management Manual.  j+m civil design was one of the first firms to coordinate with the City to provide the newly required Storm Water Management Plan, which included a two-stage extended detention stormwater detention pond design that incorporated newly instituted storm water quality requirements.  The new Storm Water Management Plan is a separate document required by the City to provide for future management of the storm water system.
